Ducal Venice (Walking Tour+Doge’s Palace). Enjoy a tour on foot (no entries) through the most important and characteristic streets and squares of Venice. The tour will proceed with the visit of the Doge’s Palace, a masterpiece of the Gothic Architecture that housed for centuries the seat of the political power in Venice. Here the Duke and his Council took decisions and built the future of a thousand-year Republic.

Then you will visit the Doge’s Palace, a masterpiece of Gothic Architecture, which represented for centuries the seat of the Venetian political power. In its splendid rooms, filled with hundreds of masterpieces of paintings, the Duke and his Council controlled the fate of a thousand-year republic.

The structure is composed in three different blocks that absorb previous constructions.

The oldest wing is the one looking towards the St. Mark’s Basin, contains the Hall of the Great Council and has been rebuilt starting from 1340. The Court Rooms, included in the wing which faces the Saint Mark’s Square, hosts the Sala dello Scrutinio and it was erected in its actual form from 1424 onwards. The wing facing the canal side and hosting the Doge’s apartments and several gouvernment offices, was erected between 1483 and 1565, during the Renaissance.
